VISION STATEMENT:
My vision is to bring the most comprehensive and honest parenting information to you, BEFORE you give birth.
Enabling you to really explore what kind of mumma you want to be and helping you to feel ready, prepared and knowledgeable.
Understanding parenting, your child's development and optimal health and well-being for you both, in a supportive and no nonsense way.
Celebrating the fact that you are still important in your own right as you grow and thrive through this new chapter of life while offering the very best to your little one.
ABOUT ME:
I am mother to an amazing 11 year old girl, We have had our fair share of difficulties and life experiences and I do not claim to be an expert however having worked with babies and children from 0-5 for 10 years before having my daughter (and a further 10 after) I realized very quickly that women usually go into parenthood with no previous experience or knowledge!
Women go home with no idea what to expect, and I find that women can be anxious and afraid of parts of parenting I would love to share information on!
I value honesty, humor, open mindedness and practicality most highly.
I truly believe that being a parent is the most important role we will ever take on.
So why many of us embark on this journey with no knowledge, experience or even sometimes a good support system around us is beyond me!
They say
"It takes a village to raise a child"
I want to be part of your village that helps you feel confident and prepared!
I have worked in childcare for 20 years with children 0-5 years+
With two level three child development qualifications, knowledge about learning through play, first aid, food hygiene, safety in the home, anaphylaxis, safe guarding and child protection.
I have worked in nursery schools, private nurseries, as a childminders assistant, as a sole childminder, as a nanny with 1-5 children. I have experience with children with hearing impairments, physical disabilities and children on the Autistic spectrum.
I have also observed and supported mum's in a high risk mother and baby unit, to see if they are capable of going back into the community with their children.
I often really felt for these mum's who had made ill informed choices and just wish I could have made a difference to them before they had their children.
I have traveled to many countries and lived in Australia and New Zealand, experiencing their early years curriculum's and how they view the child. Observing different cultures around the world with a particular interest in motherhood has enabled me to see the most fundamental and important parts of parenting for the mother while tending to the needs of the child.
I have deep personal interests in looking at life holistically where mind, body and soul must ALL be well to create a life of deep fulfillment and abundance and understand that fulfillment can come in different ways. However holding onto the fact that our base needs are all exactly the same.
I, for many years, offered services to mum's allowing them to return to work knowing their little one's were in safe hands.
Having become a mother myself at 30, I had somewhat a surprise that despite my many years with babies and children, and within close proximity to so many mum's, motherhood and parts of its experiences on a personal level seem to have been kept a secret, and there were times where I felt like I was the only one who found things hard. It was only due to my honesty and talking to others openly did I realize that I was not alone and how much women need to hear that, that this idea was born.
I have a broad range of personal experienced I feel well equipped to be at ease talking to anyone with any background no matter if you are well off, a step mum, on benefits, single or in a partnership.
Being someone who believes in being informed, I have created I Am Mumma to enable women to have a complete picture on what being a mumma is really all about and how to parent in a way that keeps baby safe
The good, the bad and the ugly and how to deal with it all. - or at least how to deal with it best - ain't nobody perfect!
May you grow daily, laugh, love and have peace.
And for the trials and tribulations may you have lioness strength, poise,
and ability to stay focused saying...
"I AM". Mumma.
With great thanks to you for being here.
Kellie.
